Decide whether you want a usable object, wearable piece or artwork, then browse the maker's actual catalogue. A shop category does not prove that every product is handmade or traditional.
Ask about materials, origin and technique
Read the product description and maker's profile. Ask who made the piece, which materials and technique were used, its dimensions and care needs. For art, clarify whether you are buying an original, a numbered print or another reproduction, and whether framing or a certificate is included.
Prepare the purchase for your journey
Confirm stock, collection or delivery timing, the currency of the price and accepted payment methods with the seller. Ask about protective packaging for ceramics and artwork. Check your airline and destination requirements for the particular item before deciding how to carry it.
